Chris' Musical Musings

by: Chris Ripple

What an amazing week for new music. So many new (and amazing) songs have hit Spotify and iTunes this week. We'll go in order from my least favorite to my favorite. First off, Empire of the Sun has come out with a new song called "Wandering Star". This song has not yet been released on Spotify but you can check it out on This can only lead me to believe that Empire of the Sun is currently working on new music which means either a new EP or a new album and I'm looking forward to a follow up that beats "Ice on the Dune". Secondly, Modest Mouse has a new song out if you haven't heard it yet, and although Modest Mouse isn't my favorite you can't help but bob your head to the catchy beats that they throw down in their songs. You can listen to their new song "Lampshades on Fire" here: Modest Mouse – Lampshades On Fire One of the new up and coming bands called Satellite Stories has released a new song called "The Trap" with one of the grooviest trumpet melodies I've ever heard. The song has been released on Spotify and I definitely suggest that you check them out here: Satellite Stories – The Trap.

Now for the big 2. AWOLNATION has FINALLY released a new song and continues to work on his new album that is set to come out some time in 2015. The song is called "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" and my initial reaction to this song was a hell yeah. The song features the classic voice of Aaron Bruno and is a song worth head banging to. Listen here: AWOLNATION – Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf) And lastly, Imagine Dragons have given us yet another sneak peak of their new album with the release of the song "Shots". This song is phenomenal, it features a new Imagine Dragons that we haven't seen before and gives me a huge amount of hope for this new album to be as good as their old ones. Listen to their new song here: Imagine Dragons – Shots That's all that I have for new music this week. Make sure to follow my posts to stay updated with the best new indie pop and alternative rock music in the weeks to come. Peace.
