Though this concert was a week ago, I supposed that the release of Sylvan Esso's Tiny Desk Concert on NPR (see below) was ample reason enough to rehash the amazing concert that went down at The Gothic last week. Obviously a sold out show, the two came on stage dancing and grooving together with a sort of mutual understanding that I have never seen between two musicians. It was hard to not follow Amelia Meath's dance moves that were eerily reminiscent (only in the best way possible) of a wacky waving inflatable arm-flailing tube man. But, this wasn't the most impressive part; the most impressive part was that she could maintain these moves and the beat all the while wearing six inch tall Vans. After playing through almost the entirety of their single album (and even throwing in a few new songs) they left the stage. It was obvious that they were done, and The Gothic was quick to turn on the lights and other music, but no one was ready to leave. Everyone stayed and cheered for around half an hour in the bright lights until Amelia and Nick walked out confusingly with their jackets. They threw them on the ground and exclaimed "you all know we literally have only one album!" Ending with a reluctant but beautiful encore of Come Down, not a single person left The Gothic even a little bit disappointed.
