Chris' Musical Musings

by Chris Ripple

On behalf of everyone at KRCX I'd like to welcome everyone back! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Summer and that many of you were able to make it out to see some of your favorite bands in concert this Summer. I'm stoked to be back at school and I'm ready to get back to sharing the best in indie pop and alternative rock music with everyone. First off, I would like to share a little bit of what I did this Summer. It was mainly filled with working back at home in Texas, however I did get the opportunity to fly out to Napa, California for BottleRock Music Festival. This three day festival had everything I could ask for. I saw Imagine Dragons, Snoop Dogg, Young The Giant, Robert Plant, No Doubt, Foster The People, The Avett Brothers, Passion Pit, Cage The Elephant, the list just goes on and on. The festival was absolutely unreal for me, it was musical paradise. I was insanely lucky to be able to see them all and none of them disappointed me. Every band and artist brought an amazing amount of energy to the stage and by the end of each set I didn't want them to get off the stage. This festival was perfect for my musical taste, I fell in love and I hope to go back next year. You can check out the website for updates regarding the 2016 lineup here:

As for bands I've been listening to, I can't get one band out of my head. This band is Sticky Fingers, a small band from Australia, who until recently, had never been to the US before. Sticky Fingers has a kind of psychedelic rock/reggae feel to their music. These guys are young and are incredible musicians. Their goofy guys and they are just extremely fun to just sit down and listen to for hours. I suggest listening to them and checking them out in your free time.

Also, Riot Fest was last weekend and Grant and I made it down there for all 3 days so expect some coverage on what we saw very soon! I'm looking forward to this year, peace!
