Weekday Wayback: Stan Getz - Getz/Gilberto

Recorded in 1963, Getz/Gilberto is a jazz-bossa nova album that remains one of the highest selling jazz albums of all time. As emphasized by the title of the album, saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist João Gilberto were the primary contributors to the Getz/Gilberto, which became the first album by a non-American artist to win a Grammy in 1965. Getz/Gilberto is a phenomenal example of an album that is both musically complex and successful commercially. An essential in any jazz collection, Getz/Gilberto serves as the perfect soundscape to a candle-lit dinner.
