DJ Snake is in his Nomad era
“Nomad is not just a title
It’s where I'm at in life
I've been on the move Chasing the sound
Chasing myself...” - DJ Snake (via IG)
Last Friday, DJ Snake dropped his highly anticipated album NOMAD, featuring big artists like J Balvin, Travis Scott, Future, Stray Kids, and more…
DJ Snake, with the sound he’s found and cultivated, fits it to more than just one genre, showcasing his versatility. NOMAD has a song for everybody. Ranging from Reggaeton, Trap, Melodic, Dance, and EDM. DJ Snake, earlier in the year, teamed up with J Balvin to kick off the rollout for the album with their summer anthem “Noventa”, bringing back 90’s club vibes and remixing it into a modern standard and setting the tone for the album as the second track. Also listing “Teka”, a global favorite from last year, to fit the reggaeton vibes for the album.
He features international artists Bantu, Bipolar Sunshine, and Stray Kids in the melodic music portion of the album. On “Company”, featuring Bantu, DJ Snake taps into afro beats and mixes them with his signature style, giving a soft yet colorful vibe to dance to. “Patience”, featuring Bipolar Sunshine, and “In The Dark” do the same, but without the afro beat, and instead give off a 90’s ethereal vibe with the use of the song's chords and synths.
DJ Snake then calls on some of the biggest artists in the rap/hip-hop genre to hop on some tracks. Don Toliver’s “Something Wrong” is probably the most introductory song into DJ Snake's style as it blends Trap & Dance very nicely. “Tsunami”, featuring Future & Travis Scott was being hyped up to be the album’s biggest song, and they delivered. “Tsunami” is a contender for the anthem of the year with its crazy level of production. Speakers will be bangin’!
But after the hip-hop portion, DJ Snake does not forget to switch it up with EDM songs like “Bring The House Down”, “RELOADED”, and “Bam Bam”. Also highlighting WHO HE IS with the dance songs “Monte Carlo”, “KIKI2000”, and “Cairo Express” (KRCX’s favorite!), which go insanely hard and are definitely some of the best production from DJ Snake yet.
There is a song for everyone on this album, and DJ Snake seems to be in a great creative space as he successfully was able to sequence an album from a multitude of genres, bringing introducing new fans into his sound.
